Making a simple form in architecture has been a major concern of modern architects. Such tendency has been shown explicitly in the works of Le Corbusier, who was one of the most influencing architects in modern age.
This study aims to find how Le Corbusier came to find out the value of the primary volume, and also what importance the houses of his early works carry. Further more, this study examines the value of the inner space, which is defined by the simple cubic outer shape.
The result of this study reveals the inadequate view which argues that the simplicity of modern architecture was derived only from the functionalism.
