The purpose of this study is to examine the current status, space composition, and facility standards for specialization of special schools, and to examine spatial elements and spatial processes in the regio educational environment theory, an educational methodology introduced in Korea. Domestic special schools are operated as comprehensive special schools. In order to expand educational options, diversity and expertise need to be organized accordingly as needed. Based on this, four domestic and foreign cases were selected and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it can be seen that a space composition in consideration of the domestic situation is required, a more flexible and flexible special school space is required, and a play space design to balance indoor and outdoor activities is necessary.
