With the Increased demand for renewable energy worldwide, the demand for solar energy also enlarged, especially in cities, due to its minimum area needed for installation. However, as the urban context is surrounded by buildings, the amount of total solar radiation projected on the solar panel decreases due to shadings from nearby buildings. So, the purpose of this study is to propose guideline for the analysis of optimal annual solar radiation projected on the surface of solar panel considering the shades from nearby context by using optimization on computational methodology. The analysis was conducted using softwares like Grasshopper, Ladybug and Galapagos.
