조선시대 지리지에 나타난 기자조선 인식 = Recognition on Kija Joseon Shown from Topographies of Joseon Dynasty

국문 초록 (Abstract)

조선시 지리지는 역 왕조의 영역에 해 서술했고 구체적인 영역 비정은 주로 기자조선 시부터 이루 어졌다. 지리지에서 기자조선은 三朝鮮 중의 하나로 평양의 기자 유적과 기자조선의 영역을 중심으로 서술되 었다. 조선전기에 편찬된 지리지는 관찬 지리지로 기자조선의 영역을 한반도로 국한하며 자세한 영역 비정은 이루어지지 못했다. 조선중기 이후에는 개인이 편찬한 지리지와 지방에서 편찬된 읍지가 나오게 되었다. 󰡔平壤志󰡕 등의 읍지에 서는 평양을 단군 및 기자의 도읍지로 강조하고 기자 유적 등 기자에 한 내용이 풍부하게 실려있다. 조선시 에 평양의 기자 유적에 해서는 이를 기자와 연관시켜 중요시하는 입장과 합리적으로 비판하는 시각이 공 존하였다. 조선후기에는 만주에 한 지식이 증되면서 만주지역을 한국 고국가의 중심지로 보는 인식이 나타났다. 이 시기 지리지에서는 주로 기자가 봉해진 지역과 기자조선의 중심을 여전히 평양으로 보았다. 그러면서 기자 조선의 영역은 만주로 확장해 보면서 영역 변천을 상세히 고증하였다. 하지만 일부 지리지에서는 기자조선의 도읍을 만주로 비정하는 인식이 나타나는데 김정호의 󰡔大東地志󰡕가 표적이다. 김정호의 기자조선 지리 연구 는 기자의 도읍이 평양이라는 기존 역사서의 한계를 극복한 연구로 주목할 수 있다. 조선시 학자들의 기자조선 영역 변동과 지명 이동을 통한 중심지 이동 연구는 기자조선설을 극복한 근 시기에 토착세력인 고조선의 영역 연구로 계승되었다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The topographies of the Joseon dynasty described the areas of successive dynasties and the positioning of specific areas often began since the Kija Joseon Dynasty. Topographjes describes Kija Joseon(箕子朝鮮) as one of three Joseons(三朝鮮) around the Kija relics in Pyongyang and the area of Kija Joseon. The topographies published in the early Joseon, official ones, could not position detailed areas, because they limited the area of Kija Joseon to the Korean peninsula. In the mid Joseon, the topographies privately published and Eupjis published from provinces appeared. The Eupjis including 󰡔Pyongyangji󰡕 stressed Pyongyang as the capital of Old Joseon and Kija, and contains a lot of contents about Kija including Kija relics. In the Joseon dynasty, a perspective which stressed the Kija relics in Pyongyang by connecting it with Kija coexisted with the other one which rationally criticized the former. In the late Joseon dynasty, a new perspective that recognized the Manchuria area as the center of the Korean ancient nation appeared, as the knowledge of it was increased. In that period, Topographjes still regarded Pyongyang as the area in which Kija was crowned king and the center of Kija Joseon. It also specifically investigated changes in the area, extending the area of Kija Joseon to Manchuria. Some topographies, however, began to position the capital of Kija Joseon as Manchuria and critically perceive the Kija relics located at the Pyongyang area. The representative one of them was Kim Jeongho’s 󰡔Daedongjiji󰡕. It is important to focus on Kim Jseongho’s study on the geography of Kija Joseon, in that it overcomes the existing topographies describing that the capital of Kija was Pyongyang. Joseon scholars’ study on the movement of centers through the changing of Kija Joseon areas and the movement of place names has an implication in that it was inherited to the study on the area of Old Joseon, local powers, in the modern age when the Kija Joseon theory was overcome.
