Recently, in Korean society, as international marriage increases, a new type of family called as a multicultural family is rising. Therefore, various institutional support policies to help marriage immigrants are being performed―the most important point is to improve their Korean language proficiency so that they can appropriately communicate in Korean society. This study seeks for more systematic and effective Korean language education, which compares and analyzes the social unity program of the Ministry of Justice, the Korean education of which objects are marriage immigrants and the Korean course of Multicultural Family Support Centers, and reviews the cases of foreign countries and the Korean course of Seosan City's.
The chapter II reviews the characteristics of marriage immigrants as a learner's group, speciality in the immigrant's Korean usage, and Korean language education courses which is performed for marriage immigrants. Also, the educational institutions, educational courses, evaluation system, and contents of materials were highlighted in regard to the recent society unity program of the MOJ, the Korean language education which is being performed for marriage immigrants, and Korean course of Multicultural Family Support Centers.
The chapter III examines the Korean language education course of Multicultural Family Support Centers, and specifically, the status of Korean language educational course performed by Multicultural Family Support Center in Seosan. Visiting of Multicultural Family Support Center in Seosan, through survey research for instructors for the course of the Center and the interview with the manager, along with actual condition survey, this study found the characteristics of Multicultural Family Support Centers and characteristics of Korean language education of Multicultural Family Support Centers.
The Chapter IV looks into the cases of Australia, Denmark, Germany, and Japan which performs a society unity program of which objects are marriage immigrants, and together, based on the problems in Korean course of Multicultural Family Support Centers analyzed in the previous chapter, the efficient Korean language education measures for marriage immigrants were suggested.
