In this study, we examined the effects of instructional technologies on NamSeoul University undergraduate and graduate students’ attitudes towards Instructional technology. Furthermore, we looked into the relationships between importance of technology devices, students’ usage frequencies of technology and students’ attitudes towards technology. Finally, we examined the differences between students’ gender, age, nationality, department and educational level regarding technology.
The purpose of educational technologies usage in schools is to change the traditional, passive way of learning into a more engaging and interactive type. IT makes education less time-consuming, more diverse, eco-friendly in some aspects. The focuses of this study were (1) to identify a significant relationship between student gender and importance of technology, (2) to determine significant correlations among importance of technology, usage frequency of technology, positive attitudes towards technology and negative attitudes towards technology, (3) to find out the main effects and interaction effects between key variables towards four dependent variables.
Hypothesis 1, which there is a significant relationship between student gender and importance of technology, was rejected. In other hand, the hypothesis 2, which there is a significant correlation between importance of technology, usage frequency of technology and attitudes towards technology, was accepted. Moreover, hypothesis 3, which there is a significant difference between bachelor and master degree students on importance of technology, was accepted as hypothesis 4, which there is a significant difference between different ages of students on usage frequency of technology, was accepted. Hypothesis 5, which there is an interaction effect between the two independent variables of nationality and department on positive attitudes towards technology, was rejected. Hypothesis 6, which there is an interaction effect between the two independent variables of nationality and department on negative attitudes towards technology, was not accepted.
In conclusion, this study shows to have two important points. The first one is that there is significant difference between undergraduate and graduate students towards importance of technology. The second one is that different age of students have a significant difference while using technology.
