다문화가정의 주거특성 및 주거만족도에 관한 연구 : 구로구 중국동포를 중심으로 = A Study on the Residential Satisfaction of Multicultural Families - Focus on the Ethnic Chinese in Guro-gu

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The Republic of Korea is approaching rapidly to a multicultural society with an experience of an increase of its population and an alternation of the surrounding circumstance. Especially, the influx of the multicultural family population in Guro-gu is increasing every year and 12.5% of the entire population is multicultural families. There are some recognized problems through the actual proof analysis on Korean-Chinese multicultural families of Guro-gu. First, they have experienced the poor residential environment since their arrival in Guro-gu but their environment is not getting improved at all. There are some ongoing public policies for residential environment but Korean-Chinese immigrants couldn’t get any benefits or support from it because they are not aware of those policies. Second, reasons why Korean-Chinese immigrant families choose Guro-gu as their residential area is because of the cheap housing cost, easy access, and the Korean-Chinese neighborhood. However, these reasons are being meaningless to Korean-Chinese immigrants these days because of the rising house price due to urban rehabilitation works and urban redevelopments. Third, Korean-Chinese immigrant family members are living in a small space together and their housing tenure types are mostly a monthly rent type or a lease type. These current aspects are becoming a financial burden for them. There is the necessity to improve the residential environment and public policies for Korean-Chinese immigrant families. Henceforth, political support on the residential environment needs to be done by the government in order to fulfill the residential satisfaction level of Korean-Chinese multicultural families. Specifically, the government should make a political decision on supplying public rental housing; long-term rental housing; expanded financial support for housing; and improved residential environment for improving the poor surroundings of Korean-Chinese multicultural families of Guro-gu.
