Buddhism has a development history of over two thousand years in China. Although it originated in ancient India, its peak and development were achieved in China. It not only absorbed Chinese traditional culture to form its own characteristics but also enriched Chinese traditional culture, becoming a part of it. Buddhism has answered many questions about the meaning of life and the philosophical field, and has formed its own ideological system. Its theory of dependent origination plays a fundamental role in the development of Buddhism, and the basic content of Buddhism is all centered around the theory of dependent origination. This paper first discusses the development history of Buddha and Buddhism in China, understanding its development status in three periods in China. Secondly, it expounds the basic theory of Buddhism—the theory of dependent origination, explains the theory of dependent origination and comprehends the life philosophy it contains. Finally, it explains that Buddhism plays an important role in meeting people’s emotional and spiritual needs and providing a vision for the meaning of life.
