This paper analyzes social innovation research on India during the Great Transition period. India, facing a Great Transition since the 1990s, is responding to the challenges of the transition through social innovation. As a result, India becomes a country with many cases of social innovation, rare among developing countries. This study analyzes the major challenges of India in transition and responses as revealed in social innovation literature.
In this study, social innovation literature on India from 2010 to 2024 in WoS (Web of Science) was collected and performed biblio-metric analysis, text mining, keyword frequency analysis, network, and cluster analysis. As a result of this study, social innovation research on India has increased rapidly since 2017 and studied in business and economic fields and social fields, and relatively more research in the computer (including ICT) field, which is a field with high competitiveness in India. The main tasks of social innovation in India are economic development appropriate to the Indian situation and solving rural, women, and health issues. The role of the community as the agent of innovation is emphasized, and knowledge, ICT, network utilization, and policy development are highlighted as innovation measures.
