The narrative is one of the most ancient genres of literature, that is why the stable tradictions even in the XX century allowed it to some extent to stay on the neutral position concerning modernist search. Historical narrative is not an exception. The opposition of “old” and “new” regarding the genre of narrative demonstrates the slackening of such contrast in comparison with the novel and the short story. Genre signs of the historical story are in general known. The story gravitates to objectivity as in essence it came from historical chronicles. The story is genetically connected with the arising historiography. Besides, the story is guided by the oral legend, being opposed to the novel as to essentially written book genre. The most important lines of the story are what emphasize a motivnost’ of development, ways, the movements, constructions, and also that circumstance that the plot in the story is weakened due to attention to a forward and natural tide of life, but, unlike the novel, this current is understood as installation of scenes, but not as rather free design. At last, speech elements, in general a stilizovannost’ and an ornamentalnost’ of the speech brightly allocate this genre. History in the story - a natural subject, but owing to impartiality, in the historical fiction of the Russian Abroad which is obviously gravitating to muster of times, this genre reached a little peripheral position. In the article three different models of functioning of historical narrative in the literature of Russian Emigration are discussed, and some key elements are revealed: assembling, objectivity, slackening of historical (factographical) consistent part. As the narrative is guided by oral narration, it points out its structural dynamics, slackening of obligatory compositional elements. All there attributes are demonstrated in the works by Leonid Zurov, Sergey Mintslov, Ivan Lukash.
