The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the occupational motive and the achievement motive of college graduate married women.
The specific objectives of this study can be summarized as follows:
1.What is the difference between the level of achievement motive of working group and nonworking group's?
2. What are differences among levels of achievement motive of age groups?
3. What is the relationship between the achievement motive and the job satisfaction?
Subjects of this study were 270 college graduate married women. The consisted of 90 steady working women, 90 reentry working women and 90 nonworkig housewives. Subject of each group were devided into three age levels; 30 twenties, 30 thirties, 30 forties using stratified sampling technique.
To investigate the level of achievement motive, Hwang Jeong Kyu's "Personal Preference Test" was used. And Lee Hyeong Gi's "Job satisfaction test" was used in this study.
In order to investigate main variables treated in this study, correlation between the achivement motive and the job satisfactions was done with Pearson's ProductMoment Correlation Coefficient. And oneway Anova was employed to compare with each variable's scores of three groups.
The results of this study were as follows:
1. The level of achievement motive of working group was significantly higher than the nonworking group's one.
2. Significant differences were found among levels of achievement motive of age groups. The data has shown that the level of achivement motive of twenties was the highest and 3135 years old was the next. On the other hands, the level of achivement motive became low during 3640 years old. After 40 years old, the level of achivement motive, began high again. So, most reentry working women reentered the occupation by 35 years old.
The result also supports Baruch's(1967) time cycle of woman's achivement motive.
3. The relation between the level of achievement motive and the job satisfaction was negatively correlated.
The job satisfaction of reentry working group which higher the level of achivement motive than steady working group' was lower than steady working group's.
So, it could be interpreted as the working condition for college graduate women in not sufficient for their need.
Some suggestions were made in the main text for further research and limitation of this study was also mentioned.
