지속가능한 폐기물 관리방법으로서 매립지의 역할 = THE ROLE OF LANDFILL WITHIN A SUSTAINABLE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT STRATEGY

국문 초록 (Abstract)

지속가능한 폐기물 관리는 환경적으로 효율적이고, 모든 환경에의 부하를 저감시키고, 공동체의 모든 영역에 경제적으로 현실성이 있으며, 사회적으로 수용가능해야 한다. 통합적 폐기물 관리[Integrated Waste Management (IWM)]는 이러한 부분에 총체적인 접근을 하고 있고, 다양한 처리방식 이용을 포함하며, 모든 폐기물의 처리과정을 다루고 있다. Life cycle tool은 IWM systems과 연관된 환경부하를 평가하기 위해 적절하게 적용할 수 있다. 이러한 기술은 이론적인 단계를 거쳐, 현재는 다양한 모델들이 이용가능한 상태에 있다. 본 연구는 매립지 모델링과 연관된 몇 가지 논점을 확인하고, life cycle tool이 지속가능한 폐기물 관리방법을 개발하기 위해 어떻게 이용될 수 있는지 실제적인 경험을 제공한다.

Sustainable solid waste management needs to be environmentally effective, to reduce overall environmental burdens, economically affordable for all sectors of the community served and socially acceptable. Integrated Waste Management (IWM) takes an overall approach to this, involves the use of a range of different treatment options and deals with the entire solid waste stream. Life cycle tools can successfully be applied to assess the environmental burdens associated with IWM systems. The technique is past the “theoretical，’ stage as a number of such models are now available. This paper reports on the practical experience to date and identifies some of the issues associated with landfill modeling and how these life cycle tools are being used to develop sustainable solid waste management strategies.
