화면 틀을 기반으로 한 영상 시퀀스의 개방성

국문 초록 (Abstract)

영상 시퀀스는 샷의 연결로 이루어져 있고 샷은 프래임에 의해 구성되는데, 비언어적 순수 질료로서의 시퀀스는 ‘단폭 가현 운동’에 의해 비로소 움직임으로 지각된다. 이에 근거해서 시퀀스의 움직임을 이해했을 때, 시퀀스는 환영을 만들어내는 재창조물이 아니라 실제 사건을 보는 것과 같은 지각 현상에 근거해 있다는 결론에 이를 수 있다. 영화의 기계적 작동은 인간의 시각이 진화해 온 생태적 특성을 따라 발전한 것이고 시퀀스는 그렇기 때문에 실재의 대리물로서 기능한다. 라캉의 거울단계 연구에서 착안한 초기 영화 이론은 ‘봉합’의 순간에 주목한다. 결여의 상태를 상처로 간주하였을 때 이를 이상적 허구성으로 보충하는 것이 곧 봉합이다. 전기 라캉주의 영화 이론이 봉합의 허구적 연계성에 대한 의문을 바탕으로 하였다면, 후기 이론은 여태까지의 봉합의 과정에 대해 표준 봉합이라는 기준을 두어 지칭하며, 계속된 생채기를 내는 반복 된 심리적 과정에 주목한다. 상처가 깊을수록 더욱 절실하게 요청되는, 상처를 봉합할 무엇인가가 출현해야 할 자리에 대해 거론하며 역설적이게도 스크린의 인터페이스로서의 가능성을 타진한다. 시퀀스는 화면 틀 잡기에서부터 비롯되며, 안과 밖을 구분하는 프래임의 경계는 부분과 집합의 관계 보다는 화면 안과 밖의 관계성을 포함하여 그 관계항 밖의 더 큰 나머지, 즉 변화하는 전체를 인지하는 계기가 된다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

A sequence is comprised of shots, and a shot is comprised of frames. Then a sequence as a pure material becomes to be perceived as a moving object by the ‘short range apparent movement’. In case the movement of sequence is received according to it, the sequence is no longer the recreated object bearing illusions, rather is the object of the visual perception which is quite similar to perceiving actual movement of real objects. The sequence functions as a surrogate of the real because mechanical operation of movies has been invented and developed in accordance with biological characteristic which has evolved so far in terms of developing human beings’ visual ability. The early study of Lacanian film theory concentrated on the moment of ‘suture’. In short, as a psychological experience on the stage of the symbolic, spectators find lack and absence in the shot/reverse shot formation. An ideological father sutures the lack (wound) fictitiously. So absence is altered by the ideological father immediately. Post study of suture theory moves its point to how fictitious suture works, and discuss new possibility of moment of suture as an interface. Sequence is formed by framing at the beginning, the border between inside and outside of the frame functions as a motivation of recognizing constantly moving the total, rather than the one for figuring out the relationship between a part and an assemblage.
