The purpose of this study is to compare the response to impoliteness between foreign Korean learners and Korean native speakers and to examine the pragmatic acceptability of foreign Korean learners’ response to impoliteness. As a result, there was no significant difference between the two groups, but it was found that Korean native speakers used persisting strategies more. In the pragmatic acceptability test, it was found that 70% of responses were appropriate. However, many respondents said that it was inappropriate to respond excessively or seriously. Therefore, it is necessary to educate foreign Korean learners the following: (a) the purpose and function of mock impoliteness, (b) the usage of appropriate strategies, and (c) the unique impoliteness patterns in Korean.
