온라인 스트리밍 실시간 채팅에서의 임시어 형성 유형과 특성 연구 = A Study on the Types and Characteristics of Nonce Word Formation in Online Streaming Live Chat

In this study, we propose online streaming live chat as one of the registers where rich nonce words data can be observed, pointing out that there has not been enough research on the nonce words. Online streaming live chat exhibits characteristics that motivate the formation of nonce words, which are created on the spur of the moment to cover some immediate need by a speakers. Nonce words formed in chat uttered by participants in two online streaming broadcasts of different types were collected and analyzed. A significant number of new and differently formed nonce words were observed. They are subcategorized into ‘compounds’, ‘derivatives’, ‘blends’, and ‘acronyms’ based on how they are formed. The characteristics of nonce word formation include ‘context dependence’, ‘diversity of semantic relations and referent concepts’, and ‘synonym relation’. This study highlights the significance of observing and analyzing individual usage in word formation research and lays the groundwork.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 글에서는 단어 형성론에서의 연구 대상으로서 임시어가 지니는 가치와 중요성에도 불구하고 실제적인 차원의 연구가 충분히 이루어지지 못했다는 점을 지적하면서, 풍부한 임시어 자료를 관찰할 수 있는 사용역 중 하나로 ‘온라인 스트리밍 실시간 채팅’을 제안하였다. 온라인 스트리밍 실시간 채팅은 화자의 즉각적인 필요에 따라 순간적으로 만들어지는 임시어 형성의 동기를 제공하는 특성을 보인다. 본 연구에서는 성격이 다른 두 가지 온라인 스트리밍 방송에서 참여자들에 의해 발화되는 채팅에서 형성되는 임시어들을 수집하고 분석하였다. 그 결과 새롭고 다양한 방식으로 형성된 임시어들이 상당수 관찰되었으며, 이들은 형성 방식에 따라 ‘합성어’, ‘파생어’, ‘혼성어’, ‘두음절어’로 하위 분류된다. 임시어 형성의 특징으로는 ‘맥락 의존성’, ‘의미 관계 및 지시 개념의 다양성’, ‘동의/유의 관계 임시어 형성’을 들 수 있다. 본 연구는 단어 형성 연구에서 개별 사용역에 대한 관찰 및 분석의 의의를 강조하고 기반을 마련하였다.
