Due to limited range of electric vehicle, it is important to know whether the vehicle can reach to the destination or not. From data accumulated, especially past energy consumption rate and distance driven, DTE(distance to empty) for electric vehicle can be predicted. To decrease error in this prediction, a noise rejection scheme is adopted and we concluded that DTE can be calculated more correctly using energy consumption rate instead of SOC of battery. By new noise rejection scheme and changing from soc based calculation to energy based calculation, we could enhance not only the robustness but also dynamics in prediction of DTE.
