패션의 관점에서 본 청소년의 교복에 관한 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 교복의 현대적 흐름과 최근 5년간의 패션 트렌드와 교복디자인의 연관성을 살펴봄으로써 청소년들에게 있어서 교복의 의미와 가치를 패션의 관점에서 찾고자 했다. 청소년기는 정신적⦁신체적으로 변화를 겪으며 정서적으로 불안한 시기로 외모와 의복에 대하여 많은 관심을 갖는 시기이다. 교복을 불편하고 유행에 맞지 않는 의복으로 인식했던 과거와는 달리 오늘날 청소년들에게 교복은 단순한 의복의 의미뿐만 아니라 자신의 개성을 표현하고 타인으로부터 평가받는 도구로서 이에 대한 욕구도 다양화되고 있다. 이러한 현대적 변화를 반영하여 현재는 교복의 디자인이 다양해졌을 뿐만 아니라 학교의 특성, 지역의 특성, 학생들과 학부모의 요구를 다각적으로 수용하면서 점차적으로 변하고 있다.
특히, 청소년들의 가장 큰 불만의 요소였던 심미적인 요인은 보이는 부분뿐만 아니라 보이지 않는 부분까지 섬세하게 디자인되고 있으며 이러한 변화는 오늘날 패션의 흐름과 무관하지 않을 것이라고 생각하였다.
이 연구를 위하여 이론적 배경에서는 교복이 한국에 처음 들어온 시기부터 오늘날에 이르기까지 교복의 디자인 변천사와 교복의 특성과 요소, 청소년기의 특성과 의복 행동에 관해 살펴보았다. 그리고 교복의 현대적 흐름을 살펴보기 위해, 매스미디어에 나타나고 있는 교복의 모습, 전통 생활한복 교복, 디자이너의 교복 등을 살펴보았고 교복의 자율화 동향을 살펴봄으로써 실질적인 교복의 착용모습을 알 수 있었다. 마지막으로 패션 트렌드와 교복 디자인의 연관성을 분석하기 위해서, 최근 5년 동안의 패션 트렌드와 개정된 교복, 신설학교의 교복을 대상으로 색상, 패턴, 소재로 분석하여 그 연관성을 찾고자 하였다.
본 연구에서는 빠르게 변화하는 패션 트렌드와 한번 개정되면 잘 바뀌지 않는 교복은 상반된 특징을 가지고 있지만 교복은 분명 패션의 흐름 안에서 청소년의 고유문화와 결합하여 그들만의 독특한 패션 문화로 자리 잡고 있음을 알 수 있었다. 청소년들은 학교를 갈 때 교복을 착용하고 교칙에 맞는 규범된 행동을 보이면서도 스타일의 변용을 통해 새로운 의미를 창출해내고자 한다. 또한 자신들의 기호 체계로 새롭게 변형 시켜 자신만의 스타일을 만들고 이러한 미적 향유를 통해 즐거움을 만들어 낸다.
프랑스 파리에서 시작되는 패션의 유행이 각 나라의 문화와 적절히 융합하여 새로운 양식을 만들어내듯이 청소년의 교복 또한 거대한 패션의 흐름 안에서 그들의 문화와 결합하면서 새로운 패션의 흐름을 보여주고 있었다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the study, it's intended to find meaning and values of school uniforms to juveniles in a perspective of fashion through investigating contemporary trends of school uniforms and association between last 5 years' fashion trend and school uniform designs. An adolescent period is a emotionally unstable period in which juveniles experience emotional and physical changes, and have a plenty of interests on their appearance and clothes. While school uniforms were deemed inconvenient and outdated in the past, but nowadays, they were regarded as a tool for juveniles to express their personality and to be evaluated from other people, as well as school uniforms have simple meaning of clothes, and needs of school uniforms are getting diversified. Nowadays, designs of school uniforms are gradually changing with meeting characteristics of schools, characteristics of regions, and students' and parents' needs in many different ways, as well as they have been diversified as a result of reflecting the modern changes on school uniforms. Especially, aesthetic factor which was most unsatisfactory one to juveniles are being designed in invisible parts of school uniforms as well as their visible parts, and it is believed that such a change is related to contemporary fashion trends. In theoretical background for the study, the change history of school uniform designs from the time of the first introduction in Korea to today, their characteristics and factors, and, characteristics of an adolescent period and clothing behaviors were investigated. And, in order to find contemporary trends of school uniforms, school uniform looks shown in mass media, school uniforms made with traditional, but reformed Korean costume styles, designers' school uniforms were investigated, and substantial wearing looks of school uniforms were found by reviewing liberalization trend of school uniforms. Finally, in order to analyze association between fashion trend and school uniform designs, it's intended to find the association by analyzing last 5 years' fashion trends, and colors, patterns, and materials of reformed school uniforms and newly established schools' ones.
In the study, it's found that although rapidly changing fashion trends and hardly-changable school uniforms are not compatible each other, school uniforms were being positioned as a their characteristic fashion culture with combining them with a juvenile unique culture within fashion trend. Juveniles were wearing school uniforms and complying with school rules in normative behaviors, and simultaneously, attempting to create a new meaning by modifying their fashion styles. Also, they're creating their own styles by newly modifying their symbol systems , and creating delight with this aesthetic enjoyment. Like fashion starting from Paris, France creates a new form with appropriately fusing together with each country's culture, Juvenile school uniforms also present a new fashion trend with combining juvenile cultures within huge fashion trends.
