중국 전통디자인을 적용한 현대 실내디자인 연구

The traditional Chinese culture has been being developed and changed in a long history. Currently, it has become the representative of the Oriental culture with the stream of economic and technological developments and globalization of information.However, as various cultures tend to be converged and the essence of unique Chinese culture tends to be increasingly distorted or excluded, you can see Chinese ethnic symbols and patterns design limited to simple visual elements. Therefore, Chinese-style reproduction elements are becoming obstacles to hand down the traditional Chinese culture. Therefore, measures to keep the Chinese ethnic features by discovering the unique traditional and cultural elements of China in the amidst of world development is required.
Based on a topic for discussion on how to apply the elements of traditional Chinese culture to the contemporary interior design, the purpose of this study was to present applications of contemporary interior design to have the humanistic nature of China as well as the look of interior design elements by analyzing ancient Chinese culture and life and the characteristics of Chinese thought. This study was proceeded with as follows. Chapter 2 reviewed three factors which are 'cultural ideas, form symbols and the expression of implications' through previous research and literature analysis based on the "three thoughts of China (Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism) which are the root of spirit inherent in the traditional Chinese culture.
Also, the study reviewed the features of design appeared in the furniture and interior design among the elements of traditional Chinese space. The study researched the principles of design, which are 'Unity and harmony' pursuing visual order, Symmetry and balance' emphasizing on proportional beauty about things or space and "Design focusing on the living of space users'.
Chapter 3 prepared the framework for traditional design elements to be able to be applied to contemporary interior design by analyzing the furniture arrangement in a traditional Chinese space and interior design skills.
Chapter 4 proposed specific interior design applications reflecting the spirit and customs of Chinese ancestors beyond the reproduction of the outer structure of the elements of traditional Chinese culture.
Conclusions obtained by the process of this study are as follows:
First, when designing the traditional Chinese culture, it is necessary to research on the advanced ideology of the Western world, based on which the type and symbol of traditional ornaments that can be created or embodied in contemporary expression should be extracted.
Second, when reflecting the elements of traditional Chinese culture on the contemporary interior design, it is necessary to recognize the fundamental meaning of traditional Chinese ornament design, its internal cultural significance with the outer structure of the elements, and interact with it.
The artistry and cultural atmosphere that appeared on the living environment of chinese ancestors are accomplished when the look and thoughts that are inherent in traditional cultural space are overlapped each other.
Third, it is necessary to develope the idea on whether the traditional Chinese culture can be deeply understood, apply the excellent performance of traditional design to the contemporary interior design, and search and strive to form a unique traditional Chinese design in order to hand down and succeed to the excellent traditional Chinese culture and thoughts.
It is meaningful that through this study it was possible to verify the characteristic elements of the traditional Chinese culture space that could be reinterpreted modernly to hand down and develop and the study presented the direction of the contemporary interior design on which the value of traditional culture is reflected.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

중국의 전통문화는 오랜 역사 속에서 발전·변화되어 왔다. 현대의 중국 전통 디자인 시장은 경제·기술발달, 정보의 세계화라는 시대적 흐름에 따라 동양의 문화를 대표하게 되었다. 그러나 점차 다양한 문화가 융합되고 중국문화 고유의 본질이 왜곡되거나 배제되는 경향이 늘어나면서 중국민족 기호 및 패턴을 단순한 시각적 요소에 국한된 디자인을 볼 수 있다. 보기에 중국 스타일 같은 재현요소가 중국의 전통문화성을 계승하는데 걸림돌이 되고 있는 것이다. 따라서 중국 고유의 전통문화요소를 발굴하여 세계화 발전 속에 중국 민족 특색을 지닐 수 있는 방안이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구는 중국 전통문화 요소를 현대 실내디자인이라는 범위 속에 어떻게 적용해야 하는가에 대한 논제를 바탕으로 중국 고대 문화와 생활, 중국사상의 특징을 분석하여 실내디자인 요소의 외형성 뿐만 아니라 중국의 인문학적 본질성을 내포하는 현대 실내디자인의 활용 방향을 제시하는데 목적이 있다. 연구의 진행방법은 다음과 같다. 2장에서는 문헌과 선행연구 분석을 통해 중국 전통문화에 내재된 정신의 근본이 되는‘중국의 3대 사상(유가, 도가, 불가)을 중심으로 한 문화이념, 형식기호, 함축적인 경지의 표현’의 3가지 요소를 고찰하였다. 또한 중국 전통공간의 구성요소 중 가구나 실내 디자인에 나타나는 디자인 특징을 살펴보았는데 시각적 질서를 추구하는‘통일과 조화로움’, 사물 혹은 공간에 대한 비례미를 강조한‘대칭과 균형’,‘공간사용자의 생활 및 중심으로 한 디자인’원칙을 연구하였다. 3장에서는 중국 전통공간의 가구 배치 및 실내 디자인 수법을 분석하여 현대 실내디자인에 적용할 수 있는 전통 디자인요소에 대한 틀을 마련하였다. 그리고 4장에서는 중국 전통문화요소의 외형적 구조물을 재현하는 것에 그치는 것이 아니라, 중국 선인들의 정신과 관습이 반영되어 나타나는 구체적인 실내 디자인 적용방법을 제안하였다. 본 연구의 진행과정을 통하여 얻은 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 중국전통문화를 디자인할 때 서방국가의 선진적인 이념에 대한 연구가 필요하며 이를 바탕으로 현대적 표현으로 창조하거나 구현할 수 있는 전통 장식품의 형식과 기호를 추출해야 한다. 둘째, 중국 전통문화의 요소를 현대 실내 디자인에 반영할 때 외형의 구조형태와 함께 중국 전통적인 장식품 디자인의 근본적 의미, 즉 중국의 전통적인 장식품의 내적인 문화적 의미를 인식하고 이들 간의 상호관계를 맺어야한다. 중국의 선인들의 거주환경에 나타나는 예술성과 문화적 분위기는 전통 문화공간에 내재된 외형성과 정신사상이 서로 중첩되어 이루기 때문이다. 셋째, 중국의 우수한 전통 문화와 사상을 이어받고 계승해 나갈 수 있도록 중국 전통문화를 깊이 있게 이해시킬 수 있는지에 대한 생각을 발전시켜 전통 디자인의 우수한 성과를 현대 실내디자인 적용하고, 중국의 독특한 전통 디자인을 형성하는 데에 꾸준히 탐색하고 노력해야 한다. 본 연구를 통해 중국의 전통문화 공간특성이 현대적으로 재해석되어 계승·발전될 수 있는 요소를 확인할 수 있었으며, 전통문화의 가치가 반영된 현대 실내 디자인의 방향성을 제시함에 의의를 둔다.
