      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

While the importance of knowledge transfer by long-term expatriates who play an executive’s role in the subsidiary has been widely acknowledged, little has been known about how they transfer knowledge from peer subsidiaries to a subsidiary. Based on social capital theory, we explore how global careerists’ prior international work-related assignments in third countries contribute to two types of knowledge inflows - global standard and local-specific knowledge - from peer subsidiaries with taking into consideration of cultural distance. We identify that cultural distance between the MNE home country and host country is more critical to transfer of global standard knowledge inflows from peer subsidiaries to a subsidiary through global careerists’ work experience. For local-specific knowledge, by contrast, cultural distance between the host country and the third country is more important. Finally, we suggest theoretical/ practical implication and future research.
