IN dealing with the above subject, I wish it to be understood that my remarks will refer chiefly to those who have taken up the study of music as a means of earning a living. Of these I think that an organist has the most grievances to complain of, for many important organ appointments are filled by amateurs who receive payment for their services, although making good incomes in their own particular callings.
