The purpose of this study is to examine the transformation of urban structure according to the continuous land reclaimed from the sea and to analyze the World Heritage sites from the viewpoint of changing townscape in Macao. The City of Macao is located at the estuary of Pearl river in the southeastern part of China and connected to three islands-Taipa, Coloane and reclaimed island of Cotai by three bridges. The area of Macao is continuously expanded by the reclaimed land. Townscape of Macao shows three different layers. First is the townscape of Oriental culture before the Portugal arrives, Second is the Western townscape created after the colonization of Portugal in the 16th century. And the present final stage indicates modern townscape with large hotels and casinos constructed in the Cotai island region. World Heritage sites in Macao is also represented such an unique urban historic landscape made from the geographical transforamation through time.
