In today's rapidly changing digital society, llife cycles of fashion products are increasingly getting shorter. To counter this problem, we need fundamental design technology research that will propagate awareness for the need of competitive fashion products and designs. The most important thing when it comes to advancements in various textile materials and newly developed fabrics and their processing techniques is added-value of fashion design. And pattern design is that very thing that will raise the added-value of fashion design. As such, fashion design has long been considered more important tnan materials in advanced countries, for design exerts the greatest influence in sales figures. As international competition heats up and demand for products with high added-value rises, diversification, specialization, and advancement in pattern designing need to be achieved concurrently.
As a method of creating such patterns, Pattern Composer was created using Flash. Furthermore, real-time online rendering is made possible and, through an intuitive interface, the user can recreate patterns with ease. Local lifestyle patterns developed during Seoul's Industry-Academia New Technology Development project were used as the pattern source and the application was designed to support user-created patterns as well. In addition, Pattern Composer was developed to support actionscript so that it could be run on flash player, a widely-used application that has been installed on about 95% of all web browsers throughout the world. Pattern Composer allows the user to create new patterns by making changes to various property values.
And because local lifestyle patterns were used as the base source under fashion data content, this will be valuable as a source for fashion design ideas.
