In this paper deals with a studies on the wintering ecology of spoonbill PkttaIea teucorodia, which was conducted at the Seosan reclaimed A area in Korea, from November 1995 until March 1996. In this surveyed area, the number of wintering spoonbill was about 35 at the highest and the black-faced spoonbill was spotted 1 individual. BehavioraI patterns varied depending on their habitat type, each month and time of the day. In the paddy field area, resting was the predominant activity, whereas stirring and resting was mostly observed at the water area. As the months went by, stirring activity was on the increased, On the whole, their resting behavior showed an opposite tendency with the stirring, locomotion and flying behavior. Spoonbill spent more time at the water area during the day time, but their activity at the water area continued to decline with each passing month, only to increase in February. Stirring was observed only at the water area, and resting and alert behavior showed a high frequence at the paddy field area. Disturbance factors of wintering habitat were the vehide(autocyc1e, car, etc.), man, aircraft and noise, In the water area, the depth of water was about 12~15cm wherein spoonbill most preferred to stay. The food items of spoonbill in survey area were Periophthahnus cantonensis, Orizias Iatipes, Unio doughsiae and so on.
