This Study examined the elderly crimes in Korea. Korea has experienced the increase of the elderly population, change of family structure caused by increase of single elderly household and problems with economic conditions among the elderly, resulted from aging society. Traditional family structures have been replaced by nuclear and single family in Korea. Extension of life can be economic burden in aging society, thus the elderly seek employment for living. According to Sampson and Laup`s developmental life-course theory and Merton`s anomie theory, proliferating of elderly in couple household and single elderly household and seeking employment in aging society explain violent crimes and property crimes among the elderly. Property crime among the elderly can be explained by applying Merton`s anomie theory. The aggravated economic burden among the elderly in Korea has influenced on the increase of property crimes, especially over 70 year-old population. Based on the findings, this study suggested implications on prevention of the elderly crimes.
