독일문학의 그리스 신화 추구 = Search for Greek Myth in German Literature

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

In the german literature, in which we find the mythical imagination, in order to get a reason of search for myth, we have to understand the correct meaning of the destruction of Greek myth and the literary reconstruction.
I would like to attain this goal by inquiring into the process of the mythical reception as the search for a root and as the foundation of a human situation.
Concerning the background of the mythical reception in the german literature, there are four views. I take notice of theses views, one of which attempts to find the significance of the change of Greek-Paradigmas since eighteenth century and another of which tries to regard the discovery Bachofen's Motherhood, by influencing on german authors such as Gerhart Hauptmann, Stefan George, Rainer Maria Rilke, Hugo von Hofmannsthal, Thomas Mann and Franz Werfel. The other of which attempts is dionysian and apollonyan classical antiquity. These concepts take great influences on the modern german literature. Others of which tries is the mythical reception in germany at the beginning of twentheeth century.
All the work in which the myth fills the recreation and the reconstruction in the literature would be identified with the goal of ancient authors. The Greek idea reflects the meaning of fullness in human life.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

독일문학에서 신화 추구를 찾아보기란 어렵지 않다. 신화 상상력이 발견되는 문학 작품들 속에서 그리스 신화는 과거로부터 현재까지 파괴와 변형 그리고 재신화화의 과정을 거쳐 왔다. 그러나 신화는 어떤 의미를 지니고 작가들이 어떤 의도로 신화를 수용하려고 하였는지 파악할 필요가 있다. 본 논문에서는 독일문학에서 신화가 지니는 위상과 그 변화과정을 취급하면서 먼저 인간 상황의 근원에 대한 추구로써 신화가 수용되어 왔다는 점과 18세기 이후의 파라디그마의 변화로 인해 신화 역시 다르게 수용되어 왔음을 밝히고자 한다.
그러므로 본문에서는 신화를 추구하는 배경을 신화가 어머니라는 인간의 원형 찾기에 있음을 언급한다. 그렇지만 신화는 시대에 따라 그리고 그 시대의 사회적, 철학적 배경에 따라 작가들에 의해 파괴되고 변형되어 재창작되었다. 특히 18세기 이후 계몽주의, 고전주의, 낭만주의를 거치면서 신화가 어떻게 수용되었는지 알아볼 필요가 있다. 예술, 철학, 사회학 등에 신화적 요소를 통해 강력한 영향을 준 바흐오펜의 『모권론』이 큰 역할을 수행하였다. 그의 영향으로 신화를 재창작한 작가들로는 게르트 하우프트만, 슈테판 게오르게, 라이너 마리아 릴케, 후고 폰 호프만슈탈, 토마스만 그리고 프란츠 베르펠 등을 들 수 있다. 게다가 19세기에는 니체의 디오니소스적인 요소와 아폴론적 요소들이 현대 독일문학에 큰 영향을 행사하였다. 그 결과 20세기 초에 표현주의 작가들을 비롯한 많은 작가들이 문학에 신화를 수용하고 그리스 정신을 현대적으로 변형하여 표현하였다. 이처럼 고귀한 그리스 정신은 독일문학에서 시대를 달리하면서도 사회문제, 인간의 문제를 해결하는 문화비평 수단이나 인간의 삶을 풍족하게 하는데 기여해왔다.
