개별성-관계성과 부정적 정서표현갈등의 관계에서 공적자의식의 매개효과 = Public Self-Consciousness as a mediator Between Individuality-Relatedness and Ambivalence over Negative Emotional Expressiveness

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구에서는 대학생의 개별성-관계성과 부정적 정서표현갈등의 관계에 대한 공적자의식의 매개효과를 살펴보고자 하였다. 또한 개별성-관계성이 부정적 정서표현갈등에 영향을 미치는 과정에 있어 성별에 따라 다른 양상을 보일 것으로 가정하고 이를 확인해 보았다. 이를 위해 서울, 경기 지역의 대학생 374명을 연구대상으로 하였다. 측정도구는 김동직과 한성열(1998)이 개발한 개별성-관계성 척도, Fenigstein, Scheier, 그리고 Buss(1975)가 개발한 자의식 척도(Self-Consciousness Scale: SCS), King과 Emmons(1990)의 정서표현갈등 질문지(Ambivalence Over Emotional Expressiveness Questionnaire: AEQ)를 사용하였다. 연구 결과, 개별성은 남녀 대학생 집단 모두에서 부정적 정서표현갈등에 직접효과를 보일 뿐만 아니라 공적자의식을 매개로 한 간접효과도 나타났다. 그러나 관계성은 남학생 집단에서는 부정적 정서표현갈등에 대하여 공적자의식을 매개로 한 간접효과만이 나타난 반면, 여학생 집단에서는 부정적 정서표현갈등에 대하여 직접효과만이 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 상담 장면에서 경험하게 되는 대학생 내담자들의 부정적 정서표현갈등을 이해하는데 유용한 기초 자료가 될 수 있을 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The current study examined the mediation effect of public self-consciousness on the relation between the individuality-relatedness and conflicts in expressing negative emotion as well as gender differences in the relations among them. For this study, 374 college students were recruited from Seoul and Kyong-Gi province. The three measures were employed: (a) individuality - relatedness scale, (b) self-consciousness scale, and (c) ambivalence over emotional expressiveness questionnaire. Individuality influenced directly the ambivalence over negative emotional expressiveness, and indirectly through the public self-consciousness in both gender groups. Whereas the relatedness only influenced indirectly ambivalence over negative emotional expressiveness through the public self-consciousness in the male, relatedness influenced directly ambivalence over negative emotional expressiveness in female group. We also discussed implications for counseling college students having problems of conflicts in expressing negative emotion.
