노인들의 컴퓨터에 대한 태도 및 그에 영향을 미치는 요인에 관한 연구:서울시내 10개 노인종합복지관 이용노인을 대상으로 = A Study on the Factors that Influence Attitudes toward Computer of the Older Adults

The purpose of this study is to investigate the attitudes of the elderly toward computer and to find out the influencing factors that affect the attitude of the elderly toward computer. In order to do this, the survey based on structured questionnaire was conducted on October, 2003. 590 questionnaires were collected, 539 out of them has been used for analysis. The major findings are as follows: 1) The attitude toward computer among the respondents is positive(Mean=2.8 out of 4.0). Among sub categories of Computer Attitude Scale, particularly usefulness is the most positive attitude(3.0 out of 4.0), the least one is confidence(2.7 out of 4.0). 2) There is a difference between two groups of elderly, one group with computer education and the other group with no computer education. The attitude of the group with computer education is more positive than that of the other group. There is no gender difference. 3) The factors that influence the attitudes toward computer are age, living with unmarried adult children among socioeconomic variances, use of computer and exposure to computer related information out of computer environmental variances, and the previous experiences of having computer training out of computer educational variances. These variables are statistically meaningful.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

현재 한국사회의 노인세대들은 빠르게 돌아가고 있는 사회변화에서 한 걸음 물러나 있는 실정이다. 핵가족화로의 변화가 가속화되면서 가족과 별거해서 지내는 노인의 비율도 높아지고 있다. 또 사회로부터 분리되어 있어 그렇지 않아도 정보에 어두운 노인들에게 인터넷으로 대표되는 정보화사회의 등장에 따른 정보화격차는 훨씬 더 빠른 속도로 벌어지고 있다. 사회구성원들 사이의 정보화격차를 해소하고 새로운 사회변화에 노인층이 보다 잘 적응하도록 돕기 위해서는 그 어느 때 보다도 노인을 대상으로 하는 정보화교육의 중요성이 시급히 요청되고 있다. 본 연구는 이와 같은 목적의식 아래 노인종합복지관을 이용하는 노인들의 컴퓨터태도 차이를 분석하고, 컴퓨터태도에 영향을 미치는 요인들이 무엇인지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 구조화된 질문지에 기초한 설문조사가 2003년 10월 한 달 동안 서울시내 10곳의 노인종합복지관을 대상으로 실시되었다. 수거된 590개의 설문지 중 엄격한 검토를 거쳐 539부가 분석에 사용되었다. 응답자들의 컴퓨터태도는 긍정적인 것으로 나타났다(4점 척도, 평균 2.8). 하위항목을 보다 구체적으로 살펴보면 컴퓨터유용성에서 가장 긍정적인 태도를 보여주고 있고, 자신감 영역에서 상대적으로 덜 긍정적인 태도를 나타내었다. 전체적으로 컴퓨터교육을 받고 있는 집단이 그렇지 않은 집단에 비해 더 긍정적인 태도를 나타내었으며, 남녀 성별차이에 따른 태도차이는 나타나지 않았다. 컴퓨터태도에 영향을 미치는 요인으로는, 사회경제적 변인으로서는 연령과 미혼자녀와의 동거여부가 통계적으로 유의미한 상관관계를 나타내었다. 컴퓨터환경변인으로는 컴퓨터소유여부보다는 컴퓨터 이용여부가 컴퓨터태도와 통계적으로 유의미한 상관관계를 나타냈으며, 컴퓨터관련 정보에의 노출 정도 또한 태도에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 컴퓨터 교육변인으로는 현재 수강하고 있는 컴퓨터교육수준보다는 이전 컴퓨터 교육 수강 경험이 유의미한 상관관계를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 노인들의 고립을 예방하고, 노인세대간 또는 다른 세대들과의 연결망을 유지하기 위한 정보화격차 해소, 노인컴퓨터 교육의 대중화 및 컴퓨터 교육의 질적인 향상, 정보화사회에서의 친(親)노인적 환경구축에 기여할 수 있으리라 여겨진다.
