To investigate the presence of Helicobacter pylori in the oral cavity, samples were taken from the saliva patients with gastric disease and normal controls. DNA was isolated from the samples, and amplified by PCR with a probe of Helicobacter pylori.
DNA from 7 among 24 patients was amplified by PCR. Hence we concluded that there might be a Helicobacter pylori in the oral cavity of the Korean patients with gastric disease.
