A Ya dam(野談) is the verbalization of historical facts or events developed into narrative literature. This thesis is based on the assumption that a novel can be written out of an unofficial historical story. The history of Ya-dam is believed to be the oldest. The unofficial historical story(野談) with peculiarity in characters is understood as a miscellanea(雜錄), an unofficial history(野史) or sometimes a falk tale(說話). Unofficial historical stories have fabrication because they are those talks among people written down by themselves. It is composed of historical matterials based on the free talks among men of noble birth(士大夫). A Ya-dam is distinguished from the unofficial history in the sense that the former is more fabricating than the latter, and also more real than the folk-tale(說話). The genre of the Ya-dam is possibly defined. From this point of view,
The modern Ya-dam has much developed in structure and sentence rhetoric than those in the early times. Yoo Mong In(柳夢寅) collected the unofficial historical stories and complied 「Euwoo yadam」, which shows that 「Euwoo Ya dam」 was seperated from the history and developed into a form of literature. 「Euwoo Yadam」 add to literary creation. That is to say, Yoo Mong In(柳夢寅) transformed the things he saw and heard according to his own point of view. This thesis is also based on the assumption that 「Euwoo Yadam」 deals with the characters in artistic quality and add to the fabrication of novel. Also, the narrative point of view devides into parallel, ascending and descanding composure.
Yoo Mong In(柳夢寅) tried in "Euwoo Yadam" to make a novel out of an affair of externally highest antiquity. This paper tried to stipulate the genre of Ya-dam as narrative literature which consists of interrelated groups.
