고등학교「도덕·윤리과」교육과정 변천과정과 전망

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 우리나라의 정치ㆍ사회적 환경 변화에 따른 고등학교 「도덕ㆍ윤리」과 교육과정 변천과정을 밝히고 그 전망을 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이러한 분석은 교육과정을 사회적, 역사적 맥락과 연관시킨다는 의미에서 해석학적 방법에 속한다. 해석학적 접근법은 윤리과 교육과정 구성에 대한 편협한 시각에서 벗어나 보다 객관적이고 폭넓은 시야를 제공해 줄 수 있다. 위기지학(爲己之學)의 윤리과 전통은 이미 8.15해방 이후에 도입되었다. 그 이후 일곱 차례의 교육과정을 거치면서 사회적 변화와 요구에 의해 윤리 교과의 명칭이나 내용에 변화가 있었다. 교육과정의 내용이 사회질서 유지를 위해 사회적 통제와 지배 이데올로기적 속성을 벗어날 수 없듯이, 윤리과 교육과정의 변천도 공동체주의의 범위를 벗어날 수는 없다. 이러한 특성으로 사회 일각에서는 윤리교과를 왜곡된 시각으로 보는 견해도 있었다. 윤리교육과정의 보다 발전적인 시각을 제시하기 위해 본 연구에서 우리나라의 정치ㆍ사회적 환경 변화 과정의 틀 속에서 고등학교 윤리과 교육과정의 변화를 조명하고 그것을 전망해 보았다. 우리 사회에서 도덕성의 문제가 있을 때마다 윤리교육의 중요성이 강조되었다. 앞으로 이러한 사회적 요청에 부응하기 위하여 윤리교육과정의 적합성이 더욱 요청된다. 적합성이란 윤리과의 정체성, 시대적 사회적 요구와의 일치, 그리고 윤리과목 간의 차별성 등에 관한 효과(effect)와 학생들에게 만족감 등을 제공할 수 있는 효율성(efficiency)을 의미한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this article is to examine the process of transition and its outlook of high school moral and ethics education curriculum based on the socio-political context. This approach belongs to the hermeneutic methology in the meaning which the curriculum is related with the socio-historical context. This approach can give objective and broad insight to the formation of ethical subject curriculum, avoiding narrow viewpoints. The improving self-culture of ethical subject tradition was introduced after the 8.15 liberation already later in curriculum. With the 7th curriculum revision, the title of ethical subject was changed by the social change and need. As the contents of curriculum can't free itself from the social control and dominant ideology to maintain social order, the curriculum of ethics subject can't lose favor with the communitarianism. Owing to these characters, some people viewed ethics subject with distorted opinion. To suggest more developmental view point, this study attempted to illuminate the formation of high school moral and ethical curriculum in the mold of our socio-political context change. Whenever moral crisis happened, the importance of moral education was emphasized. In the future, the relevance of ethical curriculum is more requested in order to suit in these social needs and accountabilities. The relevance relates with the effect on the identity of ethics curriculum, the correspondence to socio-periodical demand, and the discrimination among the ethical subjects. And it means the efficiency offering satisfaction to our students.
