필사본 『월천집<SUB>月川集</SUB>』의 특징과 번역의 필요성 = Manuscript 『Wolcheonjip』’s Feature and the Need for Translation

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 논문은 필사본 『월천집』의 특징과 번역의 필요성에 대해서 고찰한 것이다. 한국국학진흥원에서는 2004년에 이 문집에 대한 해제와 표점을 가미하여 새롭게 영인하였다. 그리하여 최근 들어 필사본 『월천집』의 자료적 가치를 인정받고 있다. 특히 《한국문집총간》 제38집에 실린 간본 『월천집』을 번역함에 있어 내용상의 차이점을 검토한 결과 간본에는 판각의 오류와 내용의 누락, 그리고 간찰에서 편지를 보낸 시점을 확인할 수 있는 간지干支가 빠져 있는 등의 문제점들이 발견되었다. 또한 필사본 『월천집』에 수록된 ｢월천선생언행초기月川先生言行草記｣에서 월천이 서애에게 보냈다는 주화오국에 관한 편지의 일부분을 살펴볼 수 있었고, 서애가 불교에 경도되지 말 것을 당부하는 월천의 편지와 맹자의 변호를 자처한 ｢호변론｣을 통해서 월천의 또 다른 사유인식에 대해서 이해하였으며 그 가치성 또한 목도하였다. 한편 월천 연구의 방향이 필사본 『월천집』을 중심으로 그 무게중심이 이동하고 있음도 확인하였다. 그러나 모든 문집이 월천집처럼 필사본의 형태로 존재하지 않을 수 있다. 그러므로 필사본 형태로 존재하지 않은 문집은 간본을 중심으로 번역을 진행하고 필사본 『월천집』 처럼 정고본이 남아있는 경우에는 문집을 번역함에 있어 고려되어야 할 부분이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper discusses the need for 『wolcheonjip』 and translation of the manuscripts of 『wolcheonjip』.
The original script of the translation project by the Regional Foothold Institute is Wolcheonjip, a printed book put in Volume 38 of 《Whole Korean Collection of Literary Works》. The errors and omission of the wood engraving were checked in this book. Yet, 『Wolcheonjip』, the manuscript photoprinted by the Advanced Center for Korean Studies, has few of these errors and omission, so it has the merits of supplementing the printed book of 『Wolcheonjip』. In addition, in ｢Wolcheonseonsaengeonhaengchogi (月川先生言行草記)｣, some parts of the letter about Juhwaohguk, which is known to have been sent to Seoae from Wolcheon, were examined, Wolcheon’s reasoning and recognition and its aspects were understood through Wolcheon’s letter requesting Seoae not to become enthusiastic about Buddhism and ｢Hobyeonron｣ in which he spontaneously advocated Mencius, and the value was also witnessed. Moreover, it was verified that the direction of Wolcheon’s study had shifted to the manuscript of 『Wolcheonjip』. Therefore, all of these must be dealt with together in the translation of the anthology, and should be investigated for the selection of the original script.
Most of the translation projects carried out by the Institute for the Translation of Korean Classics now target the anthology put in 《Whole Korean Collection of Literary Works》. Not all the anthologies exist in the form of a finalized manuscript or a manuscript like Wolcheonjip. A non-existing anthology cannot be forced to be made, so these kinds of collections are inevitable. However, in case when a finalized manuscript or a manuscript remains, for the translation of the anthology, its validity needs to be investigated historically and closely, a relevant original script must be chosen, and translation should begin after it.
