Transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy (TOET) is the recent remote access approach whichleaves no cutaneous scar in the body. It has advantages in minimize the surgical dissection,could perform total thyroidectomy and central lymph node dissection easily under a good surgicalview. TOET has gained popularity in both the East and Western countries since the firstlarge series report by Dr. Anuwong in 2016. In this article we described and critically analyzethe indications and contraindications, advantages and limitations, landmarks for recurrent laryngealnerve and strategies for superior pole dissection in transoral thyroidectomy.
