      floor level may be permitted to yield in moment-resistant frames composed of CFT columns. In this case, initially, frameinstability such as that known as story pancake crush should be avoided. The column-to-beam strength ratio defined at the floorlevel is an efective parameter for controling the frame yield mechanism. Therefore, the value of the ratio required to controlresponses of a column that has yielded might be admisible with regard to the deformation capacity. This paper presents therequired column-to-beam strength ratio and the characteristics of deformation and damage responses in CFT columns througha time-history earthquake response analysis for frame models with various numbers of stories or bays.
