Purpose The purpose of this study is to explore the emotional management of injured athletes.
Methods To reach this purpose, qualitative research methods is applied, and I University soccer player located in Incheon area are selected as subjects. After having 1 to 2 times pre-interviews, we collect data through in-depth interview, and frequently supplement the data. Collected data performances text analysis by classifying transferring stage, theme encoding stage, and theme creating stage, and it secures data veracity through subjects’ confirmation and peer confirmation. Result The results of this process are following. First of all, the emotional types of injured players were explored as fear, depression, anger, disappointment, and guilt. Second, the emotional changes of injured players were explored as changes from fear to confidence, from depression to patience, and from guilt to consideration. Third, the emotional management forms of injured players were explored as rehabilitation exercise, emotional norms, communication, mask emotions, and impression management. Conclusion This attempt has laid a theoretical foundation for understanding the emotions of injured athletes, and is expected to help provide basic data on the emotional management approach of athletes in actual rehabilitation sites
