마르틴 부버의 『나와 너』에 표명된 대화철학적 인간론 다시 보기 : 신학적 인간론과의 대화 가능성을 중심으로 = Revisiting the Anthropology of Dialogue-Philosophy Expressed in Martin Buber’s I and You : Focusing on the Possibility of Dialogue with Theological Anthropology

This study explores the possibility of dialogue between the anthropology of dialogue philosophy and theological anthropology by re-reading Martin Buber’s Ich und Du(I and You). Buber divides the dual ways humans treat the world into ‘I-It’ (Ich-Es) and ‘I-You’ (Ich-Du). He warned of the expansion of the world of ‘I-It’, which would lead to the destruction of impersonality by making others instrumental and objectified, and suggested reciprocal personalism of ‘I-You’ as an alternative to mitigate and correct it.
Buber’s anthropology has points where it can overlap with theological anthropology: it corrects the mechanical and impersonal anthropology of modern times, emphasizes openness and love for others, raises alarms against modern inhuman behaviors that objectify and instrumentalize others, and calls for a fundamental transformation.
Nevertheless, Buber’s anthropology has a fundamental limit to its application to Christian anthropology's thinking and discourse.
First, Buber’s theory of God and religion, which emphasize the reality of religion, show a significant difference from Christian theology, which presupposes the transcendence of God, and consequently approaches panentheism. Second, Buber confines human attitude toward God to the dichotomous frame of ‘perception and presence,’ ‘propositional doctrine and personal fellowship.’ Third, unlike Christian anthropology, which accepts the total depravity of man and depends on God's sovereign work, Buber believes that the realization of true humanity depends on man’s free choice and ability to transform. Fourth, to Buber, Jesus was only a Jew who lived a prophetic life, not an object of faith who became incarnated as the triune God and accomplished redemption on the cross. This is fundamentally contrary to the theological anthropology, which explains what humans are only through the mediation of Christology.
In conclusion, despite the relevance of the anthropological critical mind raised by Buber, his dialogue-philosophical anthropology allows contact with theological anthropology only in a limited range due to subtle or stark differences between Jewish and Christian beliefs.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 마르틴 부버(Martin Buber, 1878-1965)의 『나와 너』 다시 읽기를 통해 대화철학적 인간론과 신학적 인간론과의 대화가능성을 타진한다. 부버는 인간이 세계를 대하는 이중적 방식을‘나-그것’(Ich-Es)과 ‘나-너’(Ich-Du)로 구분한다. 그는 타인을 도구화하고 대상화함으로써 비인격성의 파괴를 초래할 ‘나-그것’의세계의 확장을 경고하면서, 이를 완화하고 교정할 수 있는 대안으로 ‘나-너’의 상호적 인격주의를 제시하였다.
부버의 인간론은, 근대의 기계적이고 비인격적인 인간론을 교정하고, 타자를 향한 개방과 사랑을 강조하며, 타인을 대상화하고도구화하는 현대의 비인간적 행태에 경종을 울리며 근본적인 전환을 촉구한다는 점에서, 신학적 인간론과 중첩된다. 그럼에도, 부버의 인간론은 기독교 인간론의 사유와 담론에 원용되는 데에근본적인 한계를 보여준다. 첫째, 종교의 현실성을 강조하는 부버의 신론과 종교론은 하나님의 초월성을 전제하는 기독교 신학과중대한 차이를 보이며 만유재신론에 근접한다. 둘째, 부버는 하나님을 향한 인간의 태도를 인식과 임재, 명제적 교리와 인격적 교제라는 이분법적 틀에 가두고 대립시킨다. 셋째, 인간의 전적 타락을 받아들이며 하나님의 주권적 역사에 의존하는 기독교 인간론과 달리, 부버는 진정한 인간성의 실현이 인간의 자유로운 선택과 전환하는 능력에 달려있다고 믿는다. 넷째, 부버에게 예수는예언자적 삶을 산 유대인일 뿐 삼위일체 하나님으로 성육신하고십자가에서 구속을 이루신 신앙의 대상이 아니다. 이는 기독론의중재를 통해서만 ‘인간이 무엇인지’가 해명되는 신학적 인간론과근본적으로 어긋난다.
결론적으로, 부버가 제기한 인간론적 문제의식의 적실성에도불구하고, 그의 대화철학적 인간론은 유대교적 신념과 기독교적신념 사이의 미묘하거나 혹은 극명한 차이로 인해 제한된 범위에서만 신학적 인간론과의 접점을 허용한다.
