Hearing the expression ``nurturing life(養生)``, people generally associate the image of gigong(氣功), or some others but not different just for health. The image that they associate don`t chase mind cultivation. Though modern people say mind cultivation, it is just as the method for health. why does it happens that people accept nurturing life just for body health? I think the reason is for the lack of the investigation in the nurturing life in the pre-han period. Chasing the origin of nurturing life, it is not difficult to find nurturing life for the purpose of mind cultivation. It is possible to say that The ancient chinese nurturing life consists of three origins, 『莊子』, 『管子』四篇, 『老子』. They are skills just for the porpose of cultivation of mind, not for health thought in modern times. In this paper, I investigated one flowing from 『管子』四篇which is an origin of the ancient chinese nurturing life. 孟子made some variation in nurturing life of 『管子』四篇. By him, 『管子』四篇was moralized. 浩然之氣of 孟子is the example of moralization of 『管子』四篇. 荀子made an addition to the nurturing life in 『管子』四篇and 『孟子』. what is added by 荀子. 誠, 誠is added to the nurturing life of mind cultivation before him. Originally the body cultivation was the method of mind or spirit cultivation. But latter It deviated from its way. What would be the reason? New ideology of immortality made 養形deviate from its way. We can see the disorder that happened following the deviation of body cultivation in some chapters of 『莊子』. I will investigate this interesting subject as soon as possible.
