This study is an action research conducted by the researcher and teachers of 3-year-old class aiming at the reconceptualization of discipline. The observation was initiated, based on a civil complaint against child abuse at the daycare center in which the researcher was employed. Focusing on the questions raised in the action research, detailed action plan and practice were conducted rotationally in light of literature review and advanced studies, with an emphasis on practical reform - Discussing the differences between the child abuse and discipline, focusing on the situations where discipline occurs in the daily routine of daycare centers, the researcher practiced prevention of child abuse as a conversion of perception for reconceptualization of discipline. As result, the researcher and teachers of infant classes practiced the teaching of children with a reflective thinking of discipline. The director adopted a different perspective regarding discipline, being supportive from the standpoint of teachers. An autonomous distribution of meals was introduced without necessity of discipline. Communication was engaged using. practical nursery journals that respected infants’ rights. In the course of practice, the researcher found prejudicial stance of the director to categorize disciplinary situation of teachers as a problematic behavior rather than understanding it. A reconsideration at the disciplinary situation from the perspective of teachers was necessary to overcome it the prejudice. Through this study, the researcher discussed a practical suggestion about how ‘discipline’ should be applied in light of prevention of child abuse, proffered for teachers who are faced with a dilemma of defining the boundaries between discipline and child abuse.
