Based on the AHP method, this study investigated evaluation items for the leadership of PR middle-level managers and identified the relative importance and priority. Using the AHP method with survey responses from 25 practitioners who work at PR agencies, this study showed the relative importance of evaluation items in three stages in the hierarchical structure map. In the first stage, task-oriented type is more important than relationship-oriented type. In the second stage, regarding task-oriented type, strategic thinking and behavior is the most important item, followed by problem-solving ability with clients and qualification as a role model. On the other hand, regarding relationship-oriented type, team management ability is most important, followed by communication ability and personality. The most important 10 among 29 evaluation items in the third stage are providing project goal, followed by ability of prioritizing, identifying abilities of team members, problem understanding, pursue for efficiency, suggesting work scope, communication with clients, decision making abilities, responsibility, and placing the right people to the right jobs. The seven items among top 10 are in task-oriented type because PR practitioners prefer task-oriented leaders who value achievements in competitive PR industry.
