Sustainability is a major issue for many community-based organizations, most especially in the youth sector. When organizations are not sustainable, it influences its impact on implementing activities and relationship in the community. This study assessed the contribution of human resource capacity, finance management, and government policies on the sustainability of community-based youth organizations in Cagayan de Oro City. This study adopted a quantitative research design to gain needed data. The respondents in this study were 70 youths which composed of 5 members from each of the organizations identified. The data was collected through questionnaires and key informant interviews. This study shows that multiple factors influence community-based youth organizations’ sustainability; of which it identifies empowerment in the members of CBYOs and their shared emotional connection as most important. The results showed that CBYOs’ in terms of human resource capacity should focus on empowerment within the members of the organization. While they find collaboration be an essential component for CBYOs to possess, a shared emotional connection enables the interactions of the members of the organization and the community members facilitate or inhibit the strength of the community. With these, the organization can maximize human potential, raise capital in the maintenance of organizational activities, and form partnerships ensuring the organization’s presence over a long period. The findings of this study have practical suggestions for development workers, policymakers, and the youth sector involved in the community-based youth organizations. However, this study recognizes the limitation of the data gathered from journals, books, and online sources. For future research, they require it to increase number of respondents from CBYOs and expand or omit the variables deemed applicable.
