｢西游錄｣ 所在 漢詩에 나타난 韓溪 李承熙의 文明意識 = A Study on the Lee Seung-hui’s Civilization Consciousness in the poem of ｢Seoyurok｣

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study is to figure out Lee Seung-hui’s Civilization Consciousness(文明意識) in the poem of ｢Seoyurok(西游錄)｣. Lee seung hui is a korean independence activist during the colonial period. In 1909, He established a base of independence movement which is called ‘Han heung dong(韓興洞)’ in Mishan of Jilin province, but he m oved a base of independence movement to Andong of Fengtan province. He found out Gonggyo Movement(孔敎運動) in Andong, so he established Korean Organization of Confucius Religion in Manchuria(東三省 韓人孔敎會). His branch was officially approved by Gonggyohoe (孔敎會) where there is a main branch in Beijing, which made him visit Qufu.
｢Seoyurok｣ is the record of journey in Beijing and Qufu. It is the travel essay, and he expressed his feeling about his journey in the poem . We found out Lee Seung-hui’s Civilization Consciousness in the poem of ｢Seoyurok｣. When he moved from Andong to Beijing, he mentioned Dangun and Gija. He said that Dangun founded the country and Gija is the person who transmitted civilization and gave edification. In addition, it showed that Consciousness of Native Land(故土意識) which recalls previous territory that was part of Korea through Dangunand a sense of self-esteem(自尊意識) that Korea is the only one country with authenticity of confucian culture through Gija.
He had a pride of Confucian culture through Dangun and Gija. When he experienced westernized china and western culture, he worried about the future, but at the same time he accepted westernization from the perspective of Sinocentrism.
Lee Seung hui tried to keep korean history and tradition, even though he was in difficult situation. A lot of his works he had performed in China could be highly appreciated as a kind of independence movement that dreamed of new beginning and revival of our nation.

국문 초록 (Abstract)

이 연구는 한계 이승희의 ｢서유록｣ 소재 한시에 나타난 문명의식을 찾기 위해 시도되었다. 이승희는 우리나라가 일제의 통치를 받게 되자, 중국으로 망명했던 인물이다. 그는 1909년 길림성 밀산부에 ‘한흥동’이라는 정착촌을 건설하였으나, 사정이 여의치 않아 1913년 봉천성 안동현으로 이동하였다. 안동현에서 중국의 공교 운동에대해 알게 된 이승희는 동삼성한인공교회를 설립하였다. 그리고는 곧장 북경으로 가서 공교회의 지부로 승인을 받았으며, 이를 계기로 하여 곡부도 다녀오게 되었다. 안동현을 떠나 북경과 곡부를 둘러본 여정을 담은 기록이 바로 ｢서유록｣이다. ｢서유록｣ 은 이동 경로와, 각 공간에서 느낀 바를 쓴 한시를 수록한 일기체 기행문이다.
｢서유록｣의 한시를 통해 이승희의 문명의식을 확인할 수 있다. 안동현에서 북경으로 이동할 때 단군과 기자가 종종 언급되었다. 기본적으로 단군은 나라를 세운 국조로, 기자는 문명을 전달하고 교화를 펼친 인물로 인식하였다. 단군을 통해 고대의 영토를 떠올리는 고토의식이 주로 드러났으며, 기자를 통해 우리나라가 유교 문화의 정통성을 가진 유일한 나라라는 자존의식이 나타났다. 이승희는 단군과 기자를 통해서우리나라의 오랜 역사를 잊지 않고 유교 문화에 대해 자긍심을 갖는 태도를 보였다.
또한 이승희는 서구화된 중국의 현실을 맞닥뜨리고 서양인을 직접 접하면서, 서구화에 대한 우려와 안타까움을 표출하였다. 동시에, 중화의식의 기준에서는 서구를 인정하는 유연한 태도도 보였다. 서구에 대한 낯섦과 거부감을 중화의식으로 극복하며, 우려와 기대가 공존하는 의식을 드러냈다.
이승희는 암울했던 시대적 상황과 험난한 타국에서의 현실 속에 우리나라의 역사와 전통 의식을 지키려 노력했던 인물이다. 그가 우리 민족의 새로운 시작과 부흥을꿈꾸며 펼쳤던 중국에서의 다양한 활동들은 높이 평가할 만하다.
