The purpose of this study is to examine the structure of understanding in the classroom. This paper has the preknowledge on understanding of Gadamer's ontological hermeneutics. According to Gadamer. understanding is the mode of being. It has the linguistic charcarter and historicity of understanding that are fundamental aspects of understanding.
While Gallaghar agrees with Gadamer's position. he reasserts the essential connections of interpretation and education within the contemporary of hermeneutics. Especially, Gallagher notes the interchange of interpretation in teacher. pedagogical presentation. student and subject matter in the classroom. This paper accepts his analysis and critically reinterprets the structure of understanding in the classroom.
The conclusion of this study are the followings. First, the educational understanding requires the presupposition that teachers and students participates in educational context. Second, it is able to create possibilities that goes beyond the intellectual genius on either teachers or students. Third, it makes the makes the students participate in the productive process of transformation. Finally, it is the structure of experience that the results of a dialectical interplay operating under the hermeneutical constrains of language and tradition.
