This paper explored the direction of Buddhist liberal arts education required in the era of artificial intelligence, centering on the concept of spirituality. Specifically, the main content of the study was that Buddhist liberal arts education should be conducted in two dimensions: individual and social, and that the core value of education should be the restoration of humanity.
The study proposed three specific educational directions as follows. They are liberal arts education from a life-centered ecological perspective, ethics education based on relationship theory, and restoration of humanity through understanding and communication of emotions. Based on this, he emphasized that new education in the era of A.I. should be equipped with an educational system that emphasizes ‘humanity’ rather than focusing on the functional excellence of A.I..
In conclusion, it was revealed that Buddhist liberal arts education should aim to lead to fundamental inquiry and philosophical discourse about human beings and human life.
