In order to investigate the wear-resisting properties of medium carbon Cr-Mo steel, wear rate was measured using a dry wear tester manufactured to simulate the abrasive condition. It was found that the wear rate of this steel was related with hardness as following empirical expression.
Wm=-4.265×10^-2 H+2.360
where, Wm=wear rate
H=hardness of sample(Rockwell hardness)
The wear rate of medium carbon Cr-Mo steel was markedly influenced by the tempering temperature of the steel.
