효 의무 근거의 비판적 고찰

국문 초록 (Abstract)

동서고금을 막론하고, 모든 사회들은 부모에 대한 자녀의 효 의무를 강조해왔다. 그리고 자녀가 왜 부모에게 효를 행해야 하는가의 이유나 근거를 다루는 논변도 다양하게 제시되었다. 효 의무의 근거에 관한 논의는 주로 호혜성, 우정, 부모의 필요(need)나 취약성, 관습이나 사회적 약속, 부모-자녀의 특수 관계에서의 특수 선 등을 통해 전개된다. 본 연구에서는 1) 이러한 논의들에서 밝힌 효 의무의 이론적 근거를 비교하고, 2) 각각의 논의들이 지닌 장단점을 평가해서, 오늘날 서구화된 현대사회에서 우리의 전통적 효 의무의 근거를 어떻게 조화롭게 수용할 것인지를 비판적으로 탐색하였다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

From the long time, all societies have emphasized filial piety on parent. And There have been presented various arguments about rationale why children must do filial piety to their parent. Arguments about rationale of filial piety were mainly stated through reciprocity, friendship, need of parent, social custom, and special good in parent-children relation. In this paper, I search for two themes, 1) comparison on rationale of filial piety, 2) how to receive rationale of filial piety. But these arguments about filial piety have lots of limitation. They focus on individual level, and too theoretical or abstract to be lack of possibility of practice. As complemental alternatives to strength practice, I present institutionalization of legal or financial support system, and strengthening of filial piety education or activities programs. These complemental alternatives will contribute to build more comprehensive filial piety model, and enlarge capability of filial piety practice.
