      다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This paper aims to reveal the narratological significance of storytelling that is currently issued. `Storytelling` is consist of two words, `story` and `telling`. Therefore, this paper concerns the narratological significance of them respectively. In narratology, `story` is used as the opposite term of `plot` and `telling` is used as the opposite term of `showing`. A peculiar narratological significance of storytelling is created from combination of these two terms. In narratology, `telling` act of `story` is presented as an event that is happened between narrator and narratee that is inferred from actual discourse. However, new concept of storytelling currently used is different from existing narratological concept of it. It means that we need alternative narratology for storytelling today. Storytelling currently used is an actual behaviour that creates discourse directly, not inferred acts of narrator and narratee. It is deeply implicated with the contemporary circumstance where new media emerge. Supplementing strong technology of media to the role of traditional oral storyteller, storytelling today can be used as a strategy for creating and disseminating myths more strongly.
