서울시무형문화재 한량무의 전수교육 경험을 통한 전승방향 탐색 연구

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 한량무 이수자와 전수자의 경험을 토대로 한량무의 전통성과 예술성의 본질을 탐색하여 한량무가 어떠한 방향으로 전승되어야 할 것인지 파악하는 경험연구이다. 연구를 위해 전수 교육 과정에 참여하고 있는 이수자와 전수자 7인을 대상으로 표집하였고, 반 구조화된 면담을 진행해 자료를 수집하였다. 또한 수집된 자료는 문서화 한 뒤 문화기술지 분석 방법을 통해 문화적 주제와 패턴을 발견하여 그 본질을 해석하였다.
연구를 통해 도출된 한량무의 본질적 가치에 따른 전수 방향은 다음과 같다.
첫째, 서울시 무형문화재인 극형식 한량무는 현 무용사회에서 남성의 홀춤으로서 인식이 강하기 때문에 전승 과정에서 실제적이고 학술적인 정립이 필요하다. 한량무는 문화적 흐름에 따라 이수자와 전수자 간 원형에 대한 개념대립을 형성하였지만, 공통적으로 도출된 본질가치는 극형식이라는 작품의 특이성으로 나타났다. 또한 4명의 등장인물 중 색시역은 작품의 서사구조에 핵심 인물로 정체성을 나타내며 그 가치를 인식한 정립이 필요하다.
둘째, 한량무의 원형 보존을 위한 전수 교육에서 총체적인 습득을 기준으로 교육 방법의 확립과 구체적인 시스템을 갖춰야 한다. 전수 교육에서 전수자들은 전수 집단의 일원으로서 자아 인식을 토대로 형성된 개념을 갖고 문화재로서의 역사적 가치에 따른 보존목적을 확립해야 한다. 또한 극형식 구조의 총체적 종합예술을 입체적으로 체득하는 과정에서 전수 집단 구성원 간 의식적이고 상호보완적인 측면을 통해 단체종목의 특성을 살릴 수 있는 배역별 캐릭터 연구 등 체계적인 교육 방법을 강구해야 한다.
셋째, 한량무의 예술 가치 확립을 위해 문화재단이나 제청의 지원이 필요하다. 사회문화적 가치 형성하는 것은 확실한 서사구조를 가진 단체종목으로서 창작 당시의 사회문화적 요소를 흡수한 예술극 형태라는 점이다. 현 무용계의 젊은 무용수들의 전통춤에 대한 인식이 변화하면서 전수 과정에 선택적 입문 형태를 가지며 몸짓춤의 특이성이 부각 되고 있기 때문에 무용인들과 일반인들에게 더욱이 보급되어야 한다. 따라서 문화정보를 꾸준히 제공해야하는 해당 문화재단 측의 문화지원사업을 통해 한량무 전승 활동의 범위를 확대하는 적극적인 홍보와 전수교육 지원 프로그램의 설치가 필요하다.
넷째, 한량무가 문화재로서 문화적 가치를 발현하고 발전할 수 있도록 제도적 장치와 더불어 이수자는 올바른 저변확대를 실현해야 한다. 전수자는 이수 후 전수 집단의 내부평가적 요소들을 인식하여 사명감과 책임감을 가지고 끊임없는 연구를 통해 문화적 발전 방향을 제시해야 한다. 또한 무용에만 국한적이지 않고 빠르게 변화하는 산업환경을 올바르게 수용하여 여러 장르와 협업을 통해 한량무가 무형문화유산으로서 역사적 가치와 문화적 가치를 발현할 수 있도록 전승 활동에 임해야 한다.
이와 같이 한량무의 전수 교육 경험을 토대로 나타난 이수자와 전수자의 의식구조에서 다양한 가치의 발현을 심층적으로 탐색하였고 무형문화재로서의 새로운 관점과 문화재적 전승 보존의 사유을 제시하였다. 이 연구를 통해 한량무가 문화재로서 진정한 예술적 가치 발현과 문화적 발전을 도모하고, 원형 보존을 위한 전승 활동을 심층적으로 탐구함으로써 지역사회의 큰 유산인 한량무의 문화재적 보존 가치성을 높이는 데에 밑거름을 제공할 것으로 사료된다. 더불어 한량무가 현 시대적 홀춤의 인식체계에서 벗어나려면 여러 영역과 다양한 유형분석을 포함한 확장연구가 지속적으로 이뤄져야 할 것이다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

This study as experience study searches direction to which 'hallyangmu' should be transmitted by investigating the essence of 'hallyangmu' tradition & artistry on the basis of 'hallyangmu' graduate & initiator‘s experience. Materials were gathered from 7 graduate & initiators who participated in transmission education course for study and they were collected through semi-structural interview. Further, the collected materials were documented and their essence was interpreted by finding cultural theme & pattern through analytic method of cultural & technical journal.
The transmission direction depending on essential value of 'hallyangmu' drawn through study is as follows.
First, as 'hallyangmu' in drama form, Seoul intangible cultural heritage is firmly recognized as man’s solo dance in contemporary dance society, actual and academic establishment is required in transmission course. Even though 'hallyangmu' formed conceptual confrontation on original form between graduate & initiator in accordance with cultural flow, commonly drawn essence value appears as singularity of work, drama form. Out of 4 persons, the role of bride exhibits identity as main person in epic structure of work and establishment recognizing value is necessary.
Second, it is required to establish education method & secure concrete system on the basis of overall acquisition of transmission education to preserve the original form of 'hallyangmu'. As members of transmission group in transmission education, initiators should establish preservation purpose in accordance with historic value of cultural heritage with concept formed on the basis of self recognition. Further, it is required to prepare systematic education method, that is, character study for each cast which can enliven the property of group item through conscious and mutually supplementary side between members of transmission group in the course where overall synthetic art in drama form structure is cubically acquired.
Third, support of cultural foundation or cultural heritage administration is required to establish artistic value of 'hallyangmu'. Forming social & cultural value is in the form of artistic play that absorbs social & cultural element at the time of creation as group item which has positive epic structure. Since young dancers’ recognition on traditional dance changes in present dance circle, singularity of gesture dance is highlighted as transmission course takes selective introduction form. Thus, it should be further propagated to dancers and common men. Thus, positive publicity that expands scope of 'hallyangmu' transmission activity & the installation of supporting program for transmission education is necessary through culture support project of relevant cultural foundation which should steadily provide culture information.
Fourth, graduates should realize right expansion of base with institutional device so that 'hallyangmu' as cultural heritage may develop by embodying cultural value. After completing initiator’s course, they should present direction of cultural development through incessant study with sense of duty & responsibility by recognizing internal evaluation elements of transmission group. Further, they should correctly accommodate rapidly changing industrial environment without being limited to dance as well as perform transmission activity so that 'hallyangmu' as intangible cultural heritage may realize historic value & cultural value.
As explained above, realization of diverse values was searched in-depth in graduate & initiators’ structure of consciousness exhibited on the basis of transmission education experience of 'hallyangmu' and new viewpoint of intangible cultural heritage & purpose of transmitting & preserving cultural heritage was presented. This study is expected to provide fundamental in elevating the value of preserving cultural heritage of 'hallyangmu', the significant heritage of community by promoting realizing the true artistic value & cultural development of 'hallyangmu' as cultural heritage. Moreover, extended study including diverse areas & analysis of various types should be constantly realized so that 'hallyangmu’ may get out of the recognition system of present time solo dance.
