논문(論文) : 근대 초 『한성순보』에 나타난 공학으로서의 과학과 "근대 지식" = In Early Modern History, the Science and "Modern knowledge" as a Public Study Printed in Hansung Sunbo

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

After Joseon opening her ports in 1876, through the process of entering a modern era, the intellectuals of Joseon had recognition of making Joseon as a civilized and wealthy country standing shoulder to shoulder with western counties. They also had a vague sense of crisis about ``loss of national sovereignty``; if Joseon couldn``t enter the civilized country, it might be fallen into the colony collapsed by western countries`` sword. As a condition for being a civilized, wealthy, and similar state like western strong countries, they had appealed to actively accept the western culture and first of all, science was recognized as a power of western countries`` wealth, with showing attitude about Dongdo-Seogi philosophy; preserving Eastern knowledge system with accepting Western science. Through the attitude of Dongdo-Seogi philosophy, Science has been recognized not only as a western study, but regulated as a public study which might work as a tool and method for Joseon people wellbeing and welfare. The blooming intellectual recognized science and technology as a essential study, ``modern knowledge``, forwarding to modern era. They, standing on the basis of eastern study, also make equalize that to Kyugmul or Kyugchi, which had been shown at first officially on the first modern newspaper in Joseon, Hansung Sunbo. As a method for enlightening, Hansung Sunbo had been used as a introducer for ``modern knowledge`` and through studying and maturing, it had a final purpose to finding a method Joseon wealthy. At that time Hansung Sunbo basically had not only printed information about worldwide and geography, so Joseon people could enlarge knowledge about Chinese Centered world to worldwide or earth, but also introduced modern western countries`` politics, economics, and culture systems. Through propagating science knowledge, and then realizing and using it, the times had finally focused on making Joseon civilized, wealthy and strong country.
