인공지능 챗봇을 활용한 대학교 영어수업 설계 연구 = Study on University English Classes Using Artificial Intelligence Chatbots

국문 초록 (Abstract)

본 연구는 대학생의 영어학습을 위해 인공지능 영어채팅을 실시하기 위하여 적합한 영어채팅을 알아보고, 과업을 시행한 후 이에 대한 학습자들의 반응 및 교육적 시사점을 얻는 데에 목적이 있다. 이를 위하여 2023년 2학기 ‘미디어활용 영어학습’ 수업을 듣는 학습자들을 대상으로 미추쿠와 레플리카 인공지능채팅을 채택하여 과업을 시행하였다. 학습자들은 짝과의 영어채팅도 중간에 병행하면서, 인공지능채팅과 인간과의 채팅과의 차이점 등을 경험하였다. 과업을 마친 후에는 구두질문 또는 설문지를 통하여 그 반응을 살펴보았다. 학습자들은 흥미도, 영어능력 향상도, 지속가능성에 대하여 긍정적인 반응을 보였고, 언제 어디서나 대화할 수 있는 점 등을 장점으로 꼽았다. 수업시간에 영어표현을 학습한 이후에 인공지능챗봇과 연습을하면 더 효과가 크겠다는 제안들이 있어, 지속가능성을 위해서는 수업과 병행하여 이어지는것이 바람직해 보인다. 인공지능과 협업하는 4차혁명시대에 향후에도 이러한 도구를 잘 이용할 수 있는 방안에 대한 연구가 지속되기를 희망한다.

다국어 초록 (Multilingual Abstract)

The purpose of this study is to determine appropriate English chats to conduct artificial intelligence-based English chats for college students during English learning and to obtain their responses and educational implications after performing tasks. To this end, the task was implemented by adopting Michuku and Replica artificial intelligence chat for learners opting the “English Learning Using Media” class in the second semester of 2023. Learners experienced differences between artificial intelligence chat and human chat while also chatting in English with their mates. After completing the task, responses were examined through oral questions or questionnaires. Learners responded positively to interest, improvement in English skills, and sustainability, and cited the ability to communicate anytime and anywhere as an advantage. Practicing with artificial intelligence chatbots after learning English expression in class was suggested to be more effective; therefore, both were desirable to continue in parallel for sustainability. We hope that in the era of the fourth revolution, in collaboration with artificial intelligence, research on ways to efficiently use these tools will continue in the future.
