Korea`s b-boy crews have achieved almost a legendary status as top b-boy performers in the world, making the case to the public that b-boying is Korea`s new, representative cultural code as well as a cultural content. The Korean National Tourism Organization has also recognized b-boying as Korea`s new Hallyu content with the result that R-16 Korea, World B-boy Masters Championship has been held in Korea since 2007, moving the mecca of b-boying to Korea from Germany. Today, the b-boy and b-boying are no longer underestimated or misunderstood but accepted as an independent part of culture as well as the most dynamic and beautiful art form that can be expressed physically. This paper looks at how b-boying has come to represent Korea as digital culture content in the new media age of the 21st century. It examines the birth of b-boying as part of hip hop and its development, the achievements of Korean b-boy crews in the world`s four major contests, and the strengths of Korean b-boys that made possible their success. Finally, the paper makes suggestions on how b-boying can become firmly established as part of Korea`s popular culture.
