This study surveys the consciousness of residents around the ~lacheon lndustrial Park about the environrnental problems of the industrial park and the plan converting the industrial park to an eco-industrial park. This study draws some policy implications from the survey. The residents generally acknowledge the contribution of the industrial park to the regional economy whereas they are discontented with some air pollution discharged by it. Nevertheless, their reaction to the discontent seems very passive.
The inhabitants generally agree to the plan converting the industrial park to the eco-industrial park but are opposed to importing industrial wastes from other industrial parks. The younger residents have more affirmative views about the industrial park and the eco-industrial park project. The opinion about the eco-industrial park project appears
different depending on the point of view assessing the economic contribution of the industrial park. This study suggests the policy implication that all of citizens, business and administration construct the public-private partnership for environment corresponding with the substantial concept of the eco-industrial park
